It is examination time and before we know it will be Christmas and New Year!
Mrs Bosman was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the start of the month. She will start radiation and chemotherapy treatment on Monday 30 October in Bloemfontein. We trust that everything will go well with her treatment. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Congratulations to the boys who received prizes. It was very encouraging to see the number of boys who received awards.
Grade 8 Mathematics
The grade 8s have not completed the work that will be examined in Mathematics. They will continue to have lessons on selected days during exam time and will dismiss at 13:30.
Tuesday 31 October: Grade 8(1) and 8(3) only
Wednesday 1 November: Grade 8(2) and 8(4) only
Please ensure that your son attends the classes. Miss Meza and Mrs Fredericks will keep you timeously informed of the need for any further lessons.
All grades will start writing exams on Tuesday 31 October 2017 (see the attached AMENDED time table).
Return of textbooks
Textbooks must be returned to school Memorial Library according to the following timetable:
23 November 2017 10:30 -14:00 for Grade 8
24 November 2017 10:30 -14:00 for Grade 9
27 November 2017 10:30 -14:00 for Grade 10
28 November 2017 10:30 -14:00 for Grade 11
29 November 2017 10:30 -14:00 for Grade 12
No textbooks will be issued in 2018 if there are textbooks or fines outstanding.
Grade 11s who are promoted to grade 12 at the end of the year who would like to change ONE subject must have completed the process by 7 December 2017. All forms must be processed by the District office by 15 December 2017.

Luke Steele (Headboy), Luvuyo Bonga (Vice-Headboy) and Bokang Maseng (Secretary) will lead the school and RCL into 2018. We trust that you will do so with pride and honour.

General Council (RCL), Sport and Cultural leaders
At the Leadership Assembly on 17 October the new leaders were announced. Good luck to each and every leader for the year ahead.
After a competitive year of debating, three of our learners have been selected for the Northern Cape Provincial Team to represent the province the National Competition in December, they are:

Luke Steele Grade 11
Keshan Naicker Grade 9
We are extremely proud of these boys and wish them all good luck.
The KHS U/19 Cricket Team has been invited to a Cricket festival at Bellville High School in Cape Town from the 8th to the 12th of January 2018. The parents are paying for the team’s accommodation and the tournament fee. We hereby wish to tender a request for sponsorship to support them with donations, warm up kit, petrol, hydrant (PowerAde concentrate), first aid material and any sports related donations. We hope you will look at our request in good light. Please do not hesitate to contact our School Cricket Manager, Mr S. Malangeni, should you have any questions.
Annual General Meeting
A reminder to parents about the AGM on 30 October in Memorial Library at 18h00 at which the 2018 Budget will be discussed. The budget is available for parents to view at the Bursar’s office.

Annual Golf Day
The KHS 8th Golf Tournament was held on 29 September 2017. A profit of R18 720 was realised from the effort. A warm thank you to our loyal sponsors and golfers who support the day every year.
The 2017 Raffle will be drawn on the 2nd of December 2018 during the Candles and Magic Dinner. All the Grade 8 parents who have not paid the R100 prize money donation, kindly do so. There are still a number of raffle booklets payments outstanding. Please pay for your booklet if you have not already done so.
Vince Lombardi said “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we catch excellence”. I have used this quote throughout the school year in assemblies. Good luck to you and your sons as you aim for perfection during the final exams.
